About Kirkcudbright
Kirkcudbright was made a Royal Burgh in 1455 and it enjoys a sheltered position on the North Solway Firth, often providing milder weather throughout the year. It lies approximately 30 miles west of Dumfries on the A75. It can easily be reached via the M6/M74. Both Glasgow and Prestwick Airports are about 1-2 hrs drive. It is approx. 85 miles from Edinburgh and 50 miles from Carlisle.
The area has stunning coastal shores as well as beautifulwalks and plenty of outdoor activities including cycling, golf, fishing, horse-riding and deer spotting. The area is a renowned area for artists and the town boasts many galleries and local artists.
There are many events throughout the year. Summer festivities include Scottish Night, a Medieval Fayre and the Tattoo in August.
